Casino Royale
Went to see the new Bond film at the cinema on Sunday n gotta say I was well impressed!Although I generally prefer the more comical/light hearted Roger Moore ones such as The Spy Who Loved Me and Octopussy...this one was much grittier and relied on great fight scenes, stunts and wit, rather than gadgets n slapstick humour. One thing that really struck me in a graphical design sense was the introductory credits. It used computer generated imagery to show various fight scenes etc. and made good use of the poker card suits(hearts, diamonds, spades, clubs)and other casino imagery to create a very interesting and colourful display. You can't really appreciate it so much here but at the cinema it was really impressive

Levi's Advert,1994
Been really struggling to find any amateur/personal video posts on youtube to really bother put up here or make a response to....they all seem to be made by some dumb american clown tryin to be funny. So until then can only respond to professional clips.
Here is possibly my favourite TV advertisement ever: Levi's Jeans(feat. Shaggy's Mr. Boombastic,1994).This advert has remained in my memory for time and was great to see it again on YouTube. I love the comical clay animation.....the adverts action-packed,funny(black humour and toilet humour),sexy,to-the-point.....but most of all I fuckin love da tune!Probably wot sold it to me best but it jus goes so well wit the visuals.

Narrative Group Project
Although I have forgotten to mention this whatsoever so far on the blog....for the past month I have working with four other Multimedia students (Sherri,Holly,Tom,Toby) to produce a 2 minute narrative film to be presented this Friday. It is to be loosely based on the "Smack my bitch up" music video by Prodigy involving a guy on a typical night out filmed from a 1st person perspective. We have put a fair bit of preliminary plannin into this film....however only started filmin last week. I was very skeptical about the idea for this film at first, but after lookin at footage we took on Thursday I am startin feel a lot more positive about gettin a decent end result.

Post Production Seminar
A coupla days ago we had a seminar where we were told create a 30 second narrative on Powerpoint using still image and audio clips. I had fun making this and was fairly pleased with the result considering the lack of time we had to do everything. The actual presentation didn't go quite as planned tho as a lot of the audio clips didn't work for some reason and the ones that did were kinda wrong....somehow managed to get an owl soundin like a dinosaur. However this wern't the biggest the problem as jules boldly stated to prety much every group. The point of the exercise was to make follow the instructions exactly makin it last EXACTLY 30 seconds and to edit out anything that looked dodgy or unprofessional. Jules also had a problem us not removing a human figure from the background of the owl image beacause it looked unrealistic. Was tricky wit the amount of time we had,but in all a prety fun exercise.

You Tube Video Response Assignment
Below is my response to the previous video below...although it is not so much a direct link to the original; it follows the same style and form of narrative.I really enjoyed making this video and I made a few others sketches with a different beginning and middle, but the same ending, before settling with this one.I used Adobe Premiere to edit the film and add effects.Hope you enjoy.

YouTube Video Response Assignment
Just realised that I got it completely wrong about what I was meant to do for this...thought I had to comment on any video on YouTube, and then make a 30 second video on something else to put up on YouTube....didn't quite get what video response was, but I do now.
As my video response I am going to make my own 'Screamer' video like the one below. These videos lull you into a false sense of security with a serene and peaceful image/video before flicking to some ghost/monster screaming in your face.

Right....startin to feel very guilty about missin so many lectures, just find it too hard to push myself to get up for the 9 0 clock ones especially as I take fuck all in when I'm that tired and it makes me too exhausted to attend the more important seminars...which seem to keep getting cancelled.Fairly on da ball wit most the course but don't want to get into bad habits...need a good kick in da nuts or sumthin 2 get me bak on track.

Image Meaning and Composition Assignment
For this assignment I'm meant to take an object in my possession which has value to me in terms of fine and applied design, and assess its functionality, aesthetic beauty, communication and decorative/entertainment value.
I have chosen my trusty baseball cap which have continued to purchase the exact same design for 4 years now.Don't wear it too much these days due to age but it used to be pretty much a part of me.

Function: Fashion accessory to wear on your head, shield your face from sunlight, keep your head warm, for some to show their support for the New York Yankees baseball team.
Aesthetic Beauty: Dark Blue background, large bold infamous NY symbol on the front, random white markings and random text from Chinese,Japanese and British newspapers randomly printed around exterior.
Communication: In the U.S. people may identify you as a NY Yankees baseball fan, however in Britain (and U.S.) I'd say it symbolises a love for the hip hop/urban music scene. Baseball caps with conspicuous designs like this one are popular within the hip hop, garage and drum n bass scenes and may represent your taste in music to others. This cap could also be associated with threat or attitude as they are often worn by youth gangs/rudeboys/chavs.
Decorative or Entertainment value: Fairly fashionable and unique cap - has character, represents my love for urban music, good dancing accessory for dnb raves, although I'm apparently fully english I like to think that I have some kind of oriental roots and feel the typography on the cap represents that sort of!
